As the parents of a 13-year-old daughter with a rare genetic disorder, Perla and Jorge Portillo of our Newport Beach office are dedicated to supporting research not only for her undiagnosed condition, but also for all children in a similar situation.
The dynamic agents’ skills paid off handsomely Feb. 27, when they raised more than $10,000 at a community luncheon they organized to benefit Global Genes™, one of the world’s leading rare-disease patient-advocacy organizations.
“This was a fun afternoon, with many in attendance sharing stories like ours about their children with genetic disorders, severe autism, and other conditions,” Perla said. “It was a blessing to see all of us come together to support each other, and share laughs and memories. Donations are still coming in, but the important thing is the awareness we brought to rare diseases.”
The event was held at Red O Restaurant in Newport Beach. The Portillo’s lined up many sponsors and volunteers to make the day a smashing success. To get involved in their cause, contact Perla or Jorge by phone or email, or visit the Global Genes website.
