Mother's Day in Ventura County

With Mother’s Day approaching, there’s no lack of ways to show Mom your appreciation before, on, or after May 10. Of course there are the standard brunches, flowers, and boxes of candy. But why not consider something less predictable? Here are some suggestions for making Mom’s day memorable:

  • Listen to some legends: Musician Herb Alpert and vocalist Lani Hall headline the Ventura Music Festival May 8 with songs from their best-selling albums at Ventura High School Theatre. The festival is one of the county’s signature events, attracting upwards of 6,000 concertgoers each season. Multiple Grammy winners (Alpert founded Tijuana Brass, Hall was lead singer for Sergio Mendes’ iconic Brasil ’66), play to sold-out concerts audiences, so early ticket-buying is recommended. Mother's Day in Los Angeles

With Mother’s Day approaching, there’s no lack of ways to show Mom your appreciation before, on, or after May 10–especially in a city as big as Los Angeles. Of course there are the traditional brunches, flowers, and boxes of candy. But why not consider something less predictable, maybe even daring? Here are some suggestions for making Mom’s day memorable:

  • Upload to the clouds: Take her on an angel’s-eye view of the City of Angels with Los Angeles Tours. Climb aboard a Cessna or Piper aircraft for a 45-minute flight from Van Nuys Airport over downtown L.A., Hollywood, Santa Monica, and the San Fernando Valley. You might not see any celebrities, but you might see their homes from high above. Website and tickets (more…)

First impressions can make or break you
As the homeowner, many features of your house may seem normal and charming to you. However, it is important to take a look at your house as if it is your first time seeing it. Start outside by assessing your curb appeal. Make sure your shrubs and grass are trimmed and that paint looks fresh. You want potential buyers to see the outside of your home and be excited to walk in the front door. If the outside looks unkempt, they will assume the inside is as well.
