Join the Ventura County Astronomical Society for a public star party. The evening begins with a free interactive slideshow lecture at the Moorpark College Amphitheatre. Free maps will be provided to all guests. After the lecture, participants are invited to view amazing deep-sky objects through members’ telescopes. The event is recommended for children age 8 and older.

Are you a dog lover? If so, this Beverly Hills event is for you. Presented by the city’s Community Services Department, Woofstock 90210 is a daylong festival for dogs and their owners. The event features pet adoptions, food trucks, a pet parade, pet-related vendors, live entertainment, free parking, onsite veterinarians, and pet emergency-preparedness information. Please note, your pets must be current on all necessary vaccinations to attend, and retractable leashes are not allowed.

Whether you’re of Irish heritage or just love all things Celtic, San Diego’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish celebration is an event the whole family can enjoy. Start your morning at the parade—the largest west of the Mississippi—and view more than 120 entries including bagpipers, high school marching bands, police and fire departments, floats, dancing groups, marching and equestrian units, clowns, dignitaries and honorees, representatives from Ireland, antique cars, and more. The theme of this year’s parade is “Celebrating Faith and Freedom.” After the procession, head over to Balboa Park for live entertainment on two stages. There’ll be Irish Step Dancers, Irish folksingers, craft booths, food booths, a beer garden, and a kids’ zone with rides.

Parade begins on Fifth Avenue and Laurel Street, proceeds north up Fifth Avenue from Juniper Street to Upas Street, over to Sixth Avenue and south on Sixth to Juniper Street.

What:
Bring your curious young ones for fun field studies on Wood Creek Trail with Canyon View Park’s resource specialist. Participants will check wildlife cameras to see who’s using the park at night, examine woodrat nests, and check for tracks. Attendees should bring a camera and notepad to document findings. The hike, sponsored by the Laguna Canyon Foundation, is approximately two miles and open to ages 9 and up.
