In a town as big and diverse as Los Angeles, finding the best ice cream can be a hot topic. Soft-serve, gelato, sorbet, and everything in between have their devotees, so the best ice cream in L.A. greatly depends on who you ask. One thing you will never want for, however, is a place to discover new sweet treats and confections as new vendors pop up seemingly frequently.

  • N’ice Cream. With four locations throughout Los Angeles, N’ice Cream has attracted considerable attention since opening in 2008. In fact, their freshly made and organic gelatos and sorbets were even named to Travel + Leisure magazine’s best desserts around the world–but you don’t have to just take their word for it. You can come in and sample a scoop of 16 signature flavors, or design your own two-scoop milkshake or smoothie. Book-lovers of all ages are invited to the annual two-day Festival of Books held at the USC campus. In this book fair gone wild you can browse stalls from a variety of booksellers, hear author readings, get your books signed, and see culinary expos from cookbook authors. Discover new titles, watch screenings, enjoy live music, and get the chance to meet some of your favorite authors. Past events have attracted everyone from Dave Eggers, Batman comic book writers, Margaret Atwood, and the late Ray Bradbury.

What do you get when you mix music, food, entertainment, and activities with a Western theme? The Cowboy Festival in Santa Clarita! This year will be the 22nd annual event which attracts more than 10,000 visitors annually. Attendees can enjoy musical acts from genres including Western, Rockabilly, Bluegrass, and Americana. Sit back and watch as performers stroll the streets to serenade attendees. Vendors will be serving Dutch oven and BBQ favorites with a focus on the flavors of Western heritage.
