Paring chocolate and tequila might not seem like the most natural matchup, but you can discover the pleasure of these unique flavors for yourself at the Shaken Not Stirred: Patron Tequila & Chocolate event held at ChocoVivo. For $25 you get two shaken sips of Patron tequila, two straight shots, and four mixers of stoneground whole-bean chocolate and pure cane sugar to combine at your pleasure. It’s an open-house event, so you can show up anytime while it’s open, as long as you are 21 or older. Even better, a portion of the proceeds benefit A Dog’s Life Rescue, a nonprofit that saves cats and dogs from kill shelters and finds them homes.

Best-Gelato_Ice-Cream

In a town as big and diverse as Los Angeles, finding the best ice cream can be a hot topic. Soft-serve, gelato, sorbet, and everything in between have their devotees, so the best ice cream in L.A. greatly depends on who you ask. One thing you will never want for, however, is a place to discover new sweet treats and confections as new vendors pop up seemingly frequently.

Maybe you’ll see one of your favorites on this list, or discover a new one that you just have to try:

  • N’ice Cream. With four locations throughout Los Angeles, N’ice Cream has attracted considerable attention since opening in 2008. In fact, their freshly made and organic gelatos and sorbets were even named to Travel + Leisure magazine’s best desserts around the world–but you don’t have to just take their word for it. You can come in and sample a scoop of 16 signature flavors, or design your own two-scoop milkshake or smoothie. For the truly adventurous, you can build your own “Thickshake,” which features three hearty scoops of sorbet or gelato. (more…)
