This three-day event, the largest of its kind in the U.S., features hundreds of booths, tours, lectures, meet-and-greets, presentations, and consultations, each showcasing the year’s most innovative design ideas, products, and services. Participating organizations include the Getty Conservation Institute, Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Architecture and Design Museum, Hammer Museum, and Architecture for Humanity. Public Gardens LA

Even though the state is in the grip of a drought, you might not know it by visiting some of Los Angeles County’s largest public and private gardens. Magnificent landscaping is still the norm at institutions ranging from the Huntington Library to the Getty Center to Descanso Gardens. Thanks to water-wise gardening and water-conservation efforts, these venues continue to attract visitors, as well as educate with tips and techniques for home gardeners. Many have opened low-water-use demonstration gardens.

Some of the fastest, rarest, and most beloved Japanese cars make their way to The Petersen for Automotive Museum one day only. New concept cars, vintage race cars, and tuner cars will also be on display as part of the “Japanese Car Cruise-In” exhibit. All cars will be displayed on the third-floor promenade section of the museum’s parking structure. While all cars are welcome to attend, priority will be given to Japanese models.

In this ride to support the Guide Dogs of America (GDA), hundreds of participants will mount their motorcycles for the nonprofit organization that breeds, raises, and trains dogs to help the blind and visually impaired. Even if you don’t have a ride of your own, GDA encourages all to join in on the fun-filled day that will include lunch, a raffle to win a 2015 custom Harley-Davidson, and puppy kisses for all. Rain or shine, the event will begin and end at the Route 66 Classic Grill.
