With more than 105 years of history, the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade of Lights is viewed by more than 1.6 million people each year.
Since 1908, boat owners in Newport Beach have “decked the hulls” of their vessels and homes for the annual boat parade. It features approximately 250 elaborately decorated boats, with prizes awarded in categories such as Best Lights and Animation and Best Humor and Originality. As the parade moves through the harbor, spectators can view the parade from almost any location on shore for free.
By Dec. 1, thousands of lights illuminate the harbor and hundreds of themed estates over the five nights from the third Wednesday in December to the third Sunday, which fall on Dec.¬¬ 17-21 this year.
Cruises during the holiday nights offer views of all the light displays at bay-front estates and many of the competing ships in the parade.

Join NBA legend, two-time Hall-of-Famer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and motivational speaker Magic Johnson and Dana Point mayor Lisa Bartlett for the 14th Annual Sand Sculpture Dedication and Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Admire the massive 8-ton beach-themed sand sculpture constructed in the Lobby of the resort; visit Santa Claus himself; enjoy holiday entertainment, cookies and refreshments; and purchase raffle tickets to enter to win exclusive St. Regis prizes. All proceeds from this year’s ticket raffle sales go toward the Magic Johnson Foundation – a nonprofit public organization that works to fight HIV/AIDs.
One lucky child will be chosen at random to flip the switch and help with the tree lighting that brings both the St. Regis Monarch Beach Christmas tree and the holiday spirit to life. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
