Summer Dream Home Contest

It’s no secret that some of the most beautiful homes are in Southern California, and our agents know it better than anyone else. We want to find the best listed home in Southern California, so we turned to our agents and asked them to send us the best of their current listings. Once we had our submissions, we put them to a vote and chose, from each county, one listing that we thought best represented the California lifestyle. Now that we have representatives from Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties, we need you to choose which one is your ideal Summer Dream Home.

Voting is easy, and once you vote you’ll be entered in a random drawing to win a $25 card. All you have to do is:

  • Look at our five contestant photos on our Instagram account
  • Like your favorite one
  • Tag a friend in the comments

Easy, right? You might not think so once you see how beautiful these California Summer Dream Homes are. So, before you vote, here’s a little more information about our five finalists:

Celebrity listings

Every home is someone’s castle. But some are more regal than others. Here are a few extraordinary residential transactions our agents have been involved in recently:

The Lands of Oz

Reality TV stars Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s two West Hollywood Hills homes were snapped up within two weeks of each other. The first was daughter Kelly’s 1961 contemporary, with 2,538 square feet of living space, which fetched $2 million. Next was daughter Aimee’s boxy contemporary next door, with 2,038 square feet, which went for $2.25 million. Both homes have backyard pools, spas, and two-car garages. Kirk Hoffman of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties’ Beverly Hills office represented the buyer.

Choosing the neighborhood for you

Finding the right home also means finding the right neighborhood. You might find the perfect house, but the surrounding area can quickly change the way you feel about it. There are many factors to think about, from school districts to public transportation to the proximity of your neighbors and grocery stores. Different homeowners have different needs when it comes to location, so here are a few things to focus on that will get you headed in the right direction for finding your ideal neighborhood.

  1. Affordability – Though it might be tempting, it is important to not shop for houses in a location outside your price range. Make sure that you and your real estate agent know what price range you’re searching for before you start looking. (more…)

After the final tally was over, real estate agent Candi DeMoura realized her goal to bring in 777 pounds of food was a lucky number indeed. A residential real estate specialist who concentrates on San Diego and La Jolla, DeMoura was able to raise more than 1,118 pounds of food to benefit the San Diego Food Bank in her annual food drive.

DeMoura accepted donations for the drive at the weekly open houses she conducts for her sellers. “A big thank you goes out to all the sellers and listing agents who opened their homes to be used as drop off locations,” said DeMoura. “So many people went out of their way to make donations. It was very heartwarming to see the generosity and compassion of our community on full display.”

Real estate agent Rosamaria Acuña went into the month of March like a lion, motivated to raise awareness and funds for the Friends of Scott Foundation. By partnering with the team at SparkCycle to host charity cycling events throughout the month, Acuña helped raise over $1200 to support children with cancer and their families.

SparkCycle is a local cycling studio with a stadium-based layout. Each month the fitness center hosts a weekly ‘Karma Ride’ to help a favorite nonprofit, in which 100 percent of the proceeds collected are donated.

“I would like to thank the more than 150 riders who came out to show their support for the foundation during the month of March, and especially Stephanie Cochrane, the owner of SparkCycle,” said Acuña, an agent for the past 27 years. “I would also like to thank the folks at Juice Crafters for providing samples after one of the rides. It’s really great to witness the generosity and compassion of our community first hand.”
