What:
On Oct. 1, 1787, the American tall ship Lady Washington set sail from Boston Harbor. A year later, she became the first U.S-flagged ship to ever round Cape Horn, landing off the Oregon coast.
A pioneer in Pan-Pacific trade, she was the first American ship to visit Honolulu, Hong Kong and Japan. Lady Washington opened the black pearl and sandalwood trade between Hawaii and Asia when King Kamehameha became a partner in the ship.
Get a feel for what it was like aboard the great lady in February as a faithful replica stops by for tours and excursions at Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard. Crew will be on hand in period costume to answer questions and tell stories during free tours. Donations are appreciated. Adventure sails will be offered on specific dates as well, $39-$47.

Country music sensation Travis Tritt brings his bluesy-Southern rock-infused sound to Thousand Oaks. First signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1989, Tritt released seven studio albums between 1989 and 1999. After that, he moved to Columbia Records and Category 5 Records. Tritt has several platinum records as well as chart-topping singles.

Few things that can brighten up a dreary winter day like a cup of steamy, sweet hot chocolate. The art of making cocoa is a time-honored and highly prized skill that has practitioners in almost every corner of the world. However, few, if any, chocolate artistes ply their trade with as much world-renowned fame and skill as those that dwell in the cozy center of Europe’s confectionary heartland: France.
France is where two culinary fans of refined artisanal cuisine were nurtured and raised, but it took a trip across the Atlantic Ocean and a move to Southern California before they could meet and turn their mutual passion into reality. Sabrina and Hugo Barthe opened Chocolatine Tearoom in 2004, and since then their devotion to their customers and their fare have earned them a reputation as some of the finest purveyors of hot chocolate all throughout the Southland.

Dec. 12, 2014, marked a change for the Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors as the board swore in its 2015 officers and directors. B.J. Ward was sworn in as president and our very own Ventura office branch manager, Lyle Elliot, was sworn in as treasurer.
New directors include Terri Davis, Mat Capritto, Briana Quinn. Directors continuing their place on the board include Jorge DeLeon, Rebeca Elliott, Erica Holmes, Joe Kapp, Jim Keith, Pam McWaid, Wayne King, Richard Snowden, Joe Virnig, Stan Yates, and Dennis Goldstein.
