Of the many events and attractions San Diego is known for, like SeaWorld, LEGOLAND, and craft beer, Comic-Con has to be one of the most popular and ever-evolving.

Every summer, tens of thousands of people pour into the city, eagerly anticipating their favorite films, TV shows, anime, and heroes brought to life. The event also brings in celebrities from all over, who could be presenting in a panel, revealing a sneak peek of a new project, or just geeking out over their fave heroes like the rest of us.

Comic-Con has grown immensely since its inaugural event in 1970, when only 300+ fans came to celebrate their love of “comic art, films, and science fiction.”

Now, the event is so popular that it’s almost impossible (and pretty expensive) to get tickets to go inside the San Diego Convention Center. But the more than 130,000 attendees in 2016 didn’t let that deter them, as there are tons of activities taking place throughout the long weekend that don’t require a coveted SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con) badge.

With tens of thousands of extra bodies flooding the city, it’s easy to imagine that many will fall in love with San Diego and never want to leave.

If you happen to be one of those visitors or are just a San Diego local interested in relocating downtown, we’ve selected a few properties that might grab your attention and satisfy your curiosity about the San Diego real estate market.

550 Front Street | Brian Aarestad

This exclusive west-facing corner unit offers views of the Pacific Ocean, San Diego Bay, city skyline, and, once a year, the crowds of costume-clad fans heading to Comic-Con. Located just blocks from the San Diego Convention Center, this condo is the ideal location for a pre- or post-Comic-Con celebration.

100 Harbor Drive | Neuman & Neuman

Located directly across from the San Diego Convention Center, this beautifully upgraded bubble unit at the esteemed Harbor Club is an opportunity to own that you won’t want to miss. Aside from breathtaking views, it boasts custom marble floors, extensive closet space great for in-unit storage, and granite counters in the kitchen.

511 Front Street | Lockhart & Foggiano

With a rooftop deck, a multitude of outdoor areas and private decks, and an abundance of natural light, there may only be one time of the year where you will want to venture out of your building: Comic-Con. However, once you’ve managed to snag a selfie with several Wonder Women and a couple of Storm Troopers, you can retreat to your beautiful home that’s equipped with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, a brick façade, vaulted ceilings, and other luxurious amenities.

2309 Front Street | Heidi Mann

Located a bit farther from the action is this spacious Bankers Hill home. If you’re not up for an on-foot trek to the Convention Center, Comic-Con is always just a short cab or Lyft away.

550 Front Street | Robert K. Whalen

With views of the Convention Center from your private balcony, there’s no excuse for you to not be the first in line for your most-anticipated event or panel. If you’re only interested in the events that don’t require a badge (like the Heroes Brew Festival), you can be out the door and at the party in no time.

325 Seventh Avenue | Frances MacCartee & Charlotte Rudowicz

Though this condo may appeal more to Padres fans than Marvel fans, it still has a pretty sweet location when Comic-Con rolls into town. Located less than a block from Petco Park and claiming a private entrance to Park at the Park, it is right in the middle of the mayhem that is SDCC.

445 Island Avenue | Riley Greene

This studio apartment is perfect for anyone looking to be in the heart of Gaslamp Quarter and wanting to own without breaking the bank in downtown San Diego. During Comic-Con, all you’ll have to do is step out the door and you’ll be greeted by some of the most enthusiastic (and creatively dressed) fans you’ll ever meet.
