The Year of the Sheep begins Feb. 19. The Lunar New Year is one of the most-celebrated cultural events across Asia as well as the United States, and Orange County has festivities for everyone looking to join in. Whether you’re seeking something traditional or a new way to ring in the new year, the diversity of attractions and populations around the county means that whatever your interest or involvement, somewhere near you is a family-friendly Lunar New Year celebration in Orange County:
The Orange County Chinese Association will celebrate the Year of the Sheep with a number of culturally enriching performances at Central Valley Elementary School on Feb. 14. Among the festivities will be an authentic Chinese cuisine dinner from 5:30 to 8 p.m., as well as performances from children and teachers at the school.
Take your celebration to the happiest place on earth, Disney California Adventure will have a multiday multicultural celebration of all nationalities celebrating the Lunar New Year, including specialized cuisine, seasonal decorations, and Disney characters bedecked in all sorts of festive regalia and costumes. The party runs Feb. 19-22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Celebrate Vietnamese New Year at the Garden Grove Tet Festival held at the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds, with the festivities extending to the Orange County Fair and Event Center. Usually more than 100,000 visitors will enjoy traditional cuisine, dancing, and art.
