It seems like a complete no-brainer that Mara Hoffman, the New York-based designer best known for her swimsuit collection, should make the move to California. Her psychedelic, colorful designs seem to sing the anthem of a perfect beachside day. For those of us with our fingers crossed, our Southern Californian dream came true this past September when Hoffman went bicoastal by opening a design studio in Los Angeles.

Hoffman’s swimwear is already produced in L.A., so the move was a logical one. In a Los Angeles Times article, Hoffman said, “I want to have a home in L.A. that resembles what we’ve built in New York and translates our brand to the side of the country where the clothes are being worn more.”

Hoffman has been in the design business for 14 years and was discovered by Patricia Field, a costume designer for “Sex and the City.” Her career has exploded since then and we’re looking forward to not only the design studio, but also hoping for a full Hoffman boutique in the near future!
