Orange County has its fill of amusement parks, museums and upscale shopping malls for couples to enjoy. But when the time comes to get serious about the relationship, you might consider less-crowded places to unveil the ring box. Here are some creative ideas for starting a lifelong journey.
Maybe it’s not halfway to the moon, but proposing in the clouds on a custom flight by OC Helicopters is a good way to increase your odds. Select from a variety of flyovers such as Laguna Beach, county beaches, whale watching, or create your own adventure. If you’d rather get down on one knee, pop the question, land for a great dinner, and then fly off into the stars, there’s heli-dining with a stop at a leading O.C. restaurant. Canine companionship also is available: Ask the pilot to bring “Chief Pup in Charge” Max along as a lap dog.
Top of the World Park
If a helicopter ride is too lofty, a quick drive and a short hike above Laguna Beach bring you to aptly named Top of World Park (officially Alta Laguna Park). Couples often find themselves totally alone at this 1,000-foot high peak at the north end of Alta Laguna Boulevard, making it one of the top proposal spots in Orange County. Enjoy a panoramic, bird’s-eye view of the coastline and the plunging canyons below before asking your beloved to take the plunge.
This downtown Laguna Beach park off Coast Highway is known for its killer sunsets and coastal views. It’s just above Main Beach, which can be reached by a scenic walkway should you want to cool your heels after a steamy proposal at the bluff-top park. It’s conveniently located near hotels, restaurants, the Laguna Beach Museum of Art, and blocks of shopping. Selfies mandatory.
