WolffResidence_FBCOVER_FINAL

Proudly offered by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties agents Simon Salloom and Tyson Park, for $7.995 million

Nestled on a hillside overlooking the Los Angeles basin, the Wolff Residence offers dramatic city views that span to the ocean. The residence was designed by John Lautner, FAIA, as his only homage to his mentor Frank Lloyd Wright and is often regarded by many architectural experts and aficionados as his finest work. The residence is an engineering tour de force marked by its use of geometric shapes and large scale, complemented by the extensive use of the architect’s signature Bouquet Canyon stone and hardwoods.

Surrounded by mature trees and set on an oversized lot with an extensive landscape design, the home was designed to merge seamlessly into the natural landscape. A beautiful example of Lautner’s uncompromising vision, the residence features a spectacular central atrium built around a large eucalyptus tree. The atrium is flanked by a dramatic stone “fortress” wall that was built at 45 degree angles so that it would support itself against seismic activity. In the adjacent living room, a wall of 16.5’ floor-to-ceiling windows and doors deliver breathtaking views of Los Angeles.

“This is an internationally renowned property by John Lautner, one of the most important figures in American architecture,” notes Salloom. “It is more than a house; it is one of the most important residences in the world ever offered for sale. The Wolff Residence represents a time when architects like Lautner were able to create uncompromising designs that would be difficult and/or cost prohibitive to build today.”
