Water/RecycleIt’s no secret that California has been experiencing a record breaking drought. In fact San Diego County and parts of Orange County are currently classified as D3 on the drought scale and parts of Orange, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties are classified as D4. According to The National Drought Mitigation Center a D4 is considered the highest drought level possible.

In an effort to conserve water and prevent excessive waste the Governor asked California residents to reduce their water use by 20%; however, that goal remains unmet. To further conservation efforts The State Water Resources Control Board drafted emergency regulations. The new regulations prohibit the following water-related activities.

  • Overwatering of lawns (any watering that produces runoff onto sidewalks or streets)
  • Washing sidewalks or driveways
  • Using a hose to wash a vehicle without a shut-off nozzle
  • Using drinking water in a fountain or decorative water feature unless the water is recirculated

These regulations come with a fine of up to $500 per day and tickets will be distributed by law enforcement personnel. (more…)

The Charitable Foundation and the dedicated agents from the Los Angeles network of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties are coming together to hold a Summer Celebration for the Children’s Burn Foundation, on June 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hosted by top-producing agents Andrew Manning and Steve Dubin at their home in Encino Hills, the event will feature live music and a silent auction, food and cocktails.
All of the proceeds will be allocated to the Children’s Burn Foundation, one of the many non-profits supported by the L.A. chapter of The Charitable Foundation. The Children’s Burn Foundation provides child burn survivors and their families with a range of support services, including burn prevention and fire safety education, reconstructive treatment, emergency family assistance, counseling, a teen support program, and more.

“When you combine a fun social event like this with a chance to benefit such a great cause, how can you go wrong? We are expecting to see approximately 200 people, which is really a great indication of our community’s dedication to giving back,” comments Natalie Hill, manager of The Charitable Foundation.
