Outfitters to the inherently chic, The Row has introduced its newest must-have accessory, the Market bag—a trapezoidal tote in dreamy pink suede that tops our list of “it” bags for the season. Round ring handles crafted in Italy out of multilayered rosewood were inspired by “the lining and aesthetic of Riviera boats,” say designers Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen. With such attention to detail, it’s no wonder the twin sisters were the 2014 recipients of the esteemed Accessories Designer of the Year award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

In 2005, a group of women readers from around Santa Barbara County decided to hold a yearly literary festival to celebrate women authors and the diverse life experiences that shaped their writing. That was the impetus for the Women’s Literary Festival Santa Barbara, held for the first time on March 4, 2006, and now sponsored by the Santa Barbara Public Library, Santa Barbara Arts Commission.
Featured authors this year include Nika Cavat, Naomi Hirahara, Katrina Karkazis, and Ruthanne Lum McCunn. During their 45-minute presentations, the writers will discuss their craft, and describe the social and cultural ideas that move them to write. Attendees can interact with the authors during book-signing sessions, and the writers’ published works will be available for purchase.
