It is no coincidence that National Coffee Day lines up with the start of autumn. Is there anything more delightful than those first sips of fresh hot coffee on a crisp fall morning?

Many of us simply climb out of bed and sleepily stumble to our coffee pot on auto-pilot each morning, but it’s time to slow down and appreciate our morning coffee rituals. Here are a few easy ways to turn your daily coffee fix into an intentional and enjoyable experience.

Create a designated space

Since our morning cup of coffee is often the first step in our daily ritual, it makes sense to have all of your supplies in one designated area. Utilize a utility cart, small hutch, or empty corner of your kitchen counter to collect all of your necessary tools, favorite mugs, and coffee maker.

Surprisingly, you don’t need a ton of space to create a well-stocked barista station, but if you’re running low on room, don’t forget to use vertical storage solutions too!

Put the essentials on display

Our coffee needs to be easily accessible, but no one wants garish coffee bags or canisters cluttering their countertops. It’s time to re-think how you’re organizing your coffee supplies. These tips will help ensure everything you need is at your fingertips while still complimenting your home aesthetic.

• Store sugar, coffee beans, fresh grounds, or pods in decorative canisters. Glass, copper, or ceramic always look great in a kitchen setting, but make sure your canisters are air-tight so your coffee doesn’t go stale!
• Gather your favorite mugs and put them on display with open shelving, a standing mug tree, or simply installing hooks below your cabinetry or shelves to keep them easily accessible, yet out of the way.
• Incorporate a few decorative pieces that will make you smile. A wooden sign or letter board is great for putting your favorite coffee quotes on display. Bonus: don’t forget to add seasonally rotating accent pieces to your coffee station to add a touch of festive flair!
