Experience the 36th consecutive year of Balboa Park December Nights, one of the nation’s premier holiday festivals. Learn more about the cultural history of San Diego and Balboa Park while you and your family kick off the “most wonderful time of the year.”
Participating Balboa Park museums provide free admission from 5 to 9 p.m. both evenings for more than the expected 350,000 visitors to San Diego’s largest free community festival.
Enjoy top-notch musical and dance performances, enjoy delicious and diverse food choices, and help spread a heavy dose of holiday cheer, all in a truly multicultural experience. Some of the more well-known traditions include food from around the globe at the International Christmas Festival at the House of Pacific Relations Cottages; unique gift shopping at the museum stores and with the artisans of Spanish Village; the annual Santa Lucia Procession at the Plaza de California; and musical and dance presentations from the San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, Del Cerro Baptist Church’s Christmas Story Tree, and more.

The city of Los Angeles will once again be presenting the Hollywood Christmas Parade! This year is the parade’s 82nd anniversary and promises to be the best yet!
This year’s parade will feature a concert by Grand Marshal Stevie Wonder; Earth, Wind and Fire; and Heart. Plus, children of all ages can line the streets of Hollywood, to eagerly anticipate the arrival of Santa Claus and the official start of the holiday season. For those lucky bystanders, a wink and wave from Saint Nick makes a great start to a wonderful winter!
Where:
Hollywood Boulevard at Orange Street, the U-shaped parade route will travel east to Vine Street, south on Vine to Sunset Boulevard and west on Sunset, back to Orange.

Join NBA legend, two-time Hall-of-Famer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and motivational speaker Magic Johnson and Dana Point mayor Lisa Bartlett for the 14th Annual Sand Sculpture Dedication and Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Admire the massive 8-ton beach-themed sand sculpture constructed in the Lobby of the resort; visit Santa Claus himself; enjoy holiday entertainment, cookies and refreshments; and purchase raffle tickets to enter to win exclusive St. Regis prizes. All proceeds from this year’s ticket raffle sales go toward the Magic Johnson Foundation – a nonprofit public organization that works to fight HIV/AIDs.
One lucky child will be chosen at random to flip the switch and help with the tree lighting that brings both the St. Regis Monarch Beach Christmas tree and the holiday spirit to life. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
