Real estate agents from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties, in conjunction with the San Diego chapter of The Charitable Foundation, have donated $7,500 to the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, a nonprofit that assists injured and disabled military heroes who request temporary lodging while transitioning to civilian life.

The funds were raised at the chapter’s “Day at the Races” event at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in late 2014 and presented to the beneficiary recently. The San Diego-based organization provides 12 neighboring 800-square-foot cottages in Golden Hill for wounded veterans. Each cottage has one bedroom and one bathroom; amenities include a communal dining room, kitchen, living room, yard, and white picket fence.

Terri Repetto Photo

As a breast cancer survivor, Terri Repetto knows what it’s like to look–and feel–gray.

“When I was going through chemotherapy and radiation, I was gray, and I saw that other patients in the cancer unit looked the same way. You could see it in their eyes, and their skin,” said Terri, a REALTOR®-Sales Associate in our La Jolla office.

So to help cheer the lives of those undergoing similar treatments, she has begun a drive to help them look and feel their best. She is collecting hats, scarves, necklaces, new earrings, and other accessories to distribute to patients at the David and Donna Long Center for Cancer Treatment at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa. The only thing she wants in return is a smile.

CandiFoodDrive

After the final tally was over, real estate agent Candi DeMoura realized her goal to bring in 777 pounds of food was a lucky number indeed. A residential real estate specialist who concentrates on San Diego and La Jolla, DeMoura was able to raise more than 1,118 pounds of food to benefit the San Diego Food Bank in her annual food drive.

DeMoura accepted donations for the drive at the weekly open houses she conducts for her sellers. “A big thank you goes out to all the sellers and listing agents who opened their homes to be used as drop off locations,” said DeMoura. “So many people went out of their way to make donations. It was very heartwarming to see the generosity and compassion of our community on full display.”
