“I am hoping this will bring laughter and joy where it’s needed most,” said Lisa Straza when asked about her Santa Toy Box, a toy drive that is slated to run from November 24 through December 15. Straza is partnering with several local businesses to coordinate the drive, which will benefit St. Germaine Children’s Charity.

Unopened toys can be dropped off at Margaret’s Cleaners and Carmel Valley Pharmacy, as well as Anthony’s Luggage and Shoe Repair. “I would like to extend a heartfelt note of gratitude to the local businesses that have chosen to partner with me,” commented Straza. “I can’t imagine a group of people more deserving of our kindness and generosity than abused children.”

The hybrid fiberglass-material statue stands four feet tall and was created by Pasadena sculptor and visual artist protégé Matthew “Scout” Segotta. To show appreciation for their contributions to the L.A. Chapter, The Charitable Foundation is partnering with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties and Pickford Escrow to host a fun-filled day at the Los Angeles Zoo for agents, employees and donors. The event takes place on November 15 from 10 a.m. until closing and will include free goodie bags for the children, breakfast and an opportunity to visit the Zoo’s newest exhibit, “Rainforest of the Americas.”

The event is being made possible in part due to the L.A. Chapter’s business level sponsorship of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association. “We are proud that we have been able to contribute resources to the zoo and their programs for over 10 years,” said Natalie Hill, foundation manager. “I would like to thank everyone at the zoo for making this happen, especially Jan Frazier, director of corporate and foundation relations.” (more…)
