San Diego Bike Share

DECOBIKE recently installed its first bike-sharing station on E Street at Sixth Avenue in San Diego. The station has 15 bicycles. Bicycle-sharing programs have increased in popularity in major U.S. cities as well as on a global scale in the last few years; however, this is the first program in San Diego. DECOBIKE works in conjunction with the city of San Diego and plans to launch 1,809 locations across downtown, beach areas and San Ysidro.

How It Works
Grab your credit card and head over to any of the bike stations. Rent your bike, ride it for the amount of time you bought, and then drop it off at any location (doesn’t have to be the pickup location). Choose from two rental options: hourly or membership. The hourly version lets you keep the bike for the duration of the rental period. The membership option lets you make unlimited rides on a monthly basis. Membership is further divided by unlimited 30-minute rides or unlimited 60-minute rides. Timing is recorded each time a bike is docked at a rental station. If your bike is not returned within the time limit, additional usage fees apply.

Pricing:
Hourly
• ½ hour: $5
• 1 hour: $7
• 2 hours: $12
Membership
• 30-minute unlimited $99 annually or $20 monthly
• 60-minute unlimited $199 annually or $30 monthly

Jazz Festival

What:
Join discerning jazz fans from around the world at the “crown jewel of jazz festivals” Nov. 26-30 at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center. Turn your Thanksgiving weekend into an exquisite adventure through a musical wonderland, where you can discover and enjoy some of the most prominent and talented traditional jazz, Dixieland, ragtime, swing and rockabilly musicians on the planet.

This year’s Jazz Fest features a focus on the history of swing music in San Diego with a “Swing Dance Extravaganza” on Nov. 29. Get in the right mood with Sue Palmer and her Motel Swing Orchestra, followed by the Sweethearts of Swing with High Society. Then get ready to cut a rug as you watch a jive rocking performance by SwingFX Dancers.

Starting at 5:45 p.m., you can join the hippest hepcats and the darlingest dames for new takes on classic tunes with the featured bands Graystone Monarchs and Red Skunk. Stick around later for a world-class battle of the bands between these two jazz greats, and dance the night the away with your favorite Lindy, Shag or Balboa partner.

When Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul accepted his Best Supporting Actor Emmy last August, he more than remembered to thank his wife; he caused her website to crash. “Thank you for dedicating your life to spreading kindness across the world,” gushed the actor. “If you guys don’t know what she does, look up Kind Campaign.” Well, thousands did.
