See more than 85 performances on six stages over the four-day Gator by the Bay Festival in San Diego. Returning for its 14th year, it’s the largest authentic Louisiana-themed festival this side of the bayous. Enjoy parades, shopping, crawfish, and other Louisiana cuisine, music, and beverages. Take a step back in time during the Rancho Days Fiesta. The sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of the past will make their way to Lake Forest for this one-day festival. Participate in hands-on activities which watching Mexican and Native American song and dance performances. Exhibitions on blacksmithing, basket weaving, and adobe brick-making will take place throughout the day.

Goleta Valley Beautiful is all about the promotion of sustainability, beautification projects, community pride, and contribution to diverse and healthy urban forests. Kitchen blenders have come a long way since Stephen J. Poplawski, owner of Stevens Electric Co. in Racine, Wisconsin, began designing drink mixers in 1919. He patented them in 1922, along with a liquefier blender, and soon they were in use at soda fountains around the country to whip up malted milkshakes.
Fifteen years later, the Vitamix company–which had made kitchen products since 1921–introduced its own heavy-duty version of the blender. In 1949, the company hit the big time after showcasing its blender in the world’s first TV infomercial.

As part of the ongoing Water Wise Gardening series, the city of Ventura will present a class on graywater and rainwater harvesting. This event is free and open to the public.
