“What are the best schools?” is by far the most common question I receive from my out-of-town clients. And, as a relocation certified agent, I get asked that question a lot. Since I am a local mother of three who has made some connections in the Poway Unified School District, I thought I would share the best ways I’ve found to search for the ideal school for your children, whether you are considering a public, private, or charter school.

Here are a few of the best websites you can use to determine the best areas to live in and schools for your kids within San Diego County. Since you are likely a busy parent and professional like me, I will share my favorite website first.

  1. In North County, Fish 101 serves sustainable and local seafood in a laid-back Leucadia setting. The day’s catch is available simply grilled or—the locals’ favorite—tucked into a sandwich with lemon aioli and pickled red onions. Orange County mammal Center

While their family and friends are frolicking in the ocean six miles away, a group of pinniped “patients” is recovering at an inland Orange County rehab center designed to care just for them.

The things people leave at the beach!

The set, named “The City of the Pharoah,” was built for the silent epic “The Ten Commandments.” It consisted of an avenue of 21 sphinxes, four 35-foot-tall Pharaoh statues, an 800-foot-wide temple, and 110-foot-tall gates.

Ventura County Gondola rides

“Romantic” and “gondola” are words that always seem to find each other. If you’ve been wanting to find yourself and your sweetheart gliding along in one of Venice’s storied ornamental vessels but don’t have enough Euros to get to Italy, how about Oxnard?

Ventura County has just one gondola operator: Gondola Paradiso in Channel Islands Harbor. Any day or night of the week, owner/gondolier Mark Schooling will take up to six passengers on a 50-minute ride through what he describes as the “best-looking waterway in Ventura County,” the one winding through the upscale Seabridge community.

Schooling started Gondola Paradiso in 2014 after 16 years of handling the flat-bottom boats for several operators that are now his competitors further south. Business has been flowing steadily. “Our Valentine’s day volume tripled this year over last, so that’s a good sign,” he said.
