What:
In war and in peace, the Jeep is an American icon recognized around the world. It started out as a military general purpose vehicle or “GP” which, when slurred, sounds like “jeep.” But it has morphed over the years into dozens of styles that are instantly identifiable only as a Jeep.
Some great examples of military and civilian models will be on display at “Jeep-A Favorite of Liberators & Adventurers,” an exhibit now through the end of March at the Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard. A special Jeep-centric event will be held Jan. 18, featuring basic World War II and Korean War models to the more modern and luxurious Wagoneer. The parking lot will be packed with local Jeep enthusiasts from the Low Range 4×4 Club. Museum admission is free but donations are suggested.
