Water conservation is a topic those of us in Southern California are all too familiar with. While in the midst of one of the most severe droughts on record, it’s no surprise that counties throughout California are putting together programs to incentivize residents to take part in conservation efforts. Rebates are available for homeowners as well as renters, and typically fall into one of two categories. Rebates can be obtained for indoor and outdoor water-saving technology. Rebates can be obtained through programs from California American Water and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Many of these rebates can easily be applied for online.

The California Jazz and Wine Fest is back for the fourth consecutive year. Spend the day seeing jazz groups, sipping wine and beer, and sampling gourmet cuisine. The jazz lineup includes Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, Oskar Cartaya Enclave with guest Justo Amario, as well as other bands. The festival is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Westlake Village Sunrise. All attendees must be 21 or older.

If you’re looking for something “berry” unique, check out the California Strawberry Festival. During this two-day event, you can participate in bushels of activities dedicated to delicious strawberries. Dive face-first into a strawberry pie-eating contest, team up for the strawberry relay race, or bling out your cap in the “berry best hat” contest. Musical entertainment, award-winning arts and crafts, and a kids’ Strawberryland are among the many attractions at the festival.
